HOW TO PREPARE FOR VOCAL AUDITIONS
If interested in The Mikado, please prepare no more than 32 bars of one memorized legit song from an opera, operetta, or classic Broadway musical (before 1960). No belting, please.
If interested in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and/or Schoolhouse Rock Live!, please prepare no more than 32 bars from a Broadway show written AFTER 1975.
If interested in both mainstage productions, you should prepare to sing one song of each style.
The musical directors request that you do not sing from The Mikado or The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee scores.
You must bring sheet music in the key in which you would like to sing; please, no accompaniment tapes. An accompanist will be provided for the vocal audition; please CLEARLY mark any cuts in your music.
Please note that we are looking for a wide age range for each production and we encourage community members to auditions. For The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, three roles will be cast for people over the age of 40. HOWEVER, there are no roles available for children age 16 and under this season.
